I think we’ve put so much emphasis on “Don’t follow the crowd, go your own way” that we’ve scared people from liking anything deemed “popular.” But it’s ok if you like something, or want to do something that the “crowd” is doing. Just make sure you’re doing it because you want to. And not because you feel you have to.
